TRADE REACTION FROM YOUR 3 RIGHTIES!
Blackhawks trade center Nick Schmaltz to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for center Dylan Strome and left winger Brandon Perlini.
Nick Schmaltz -22-years-old (going to the Arizona Coyotes)
|2018-19||Chicago Blackhawks||GP - 23||G -2||A - 9||PTS - 11||PIM - 6||+/- -4|
Dylan Strome - 21-years-old (going to the Chicago Blackhawks)
|2018-19||Arizona Coyotes||NHL||GP - 20||G - 3||A - 3||PTS - 6||PIM - 6 +/-||-10|
Brandon Perlini - 22-years-old (going to the Chicago Blackhawks)
|2018-19||Arizona Coyotes||GP - 22||G - 2||A - 4||PTS - 6||PIM - 8 +/-||-5|
"Strome seems like a bust, hasn't lived up to his 3rd overall selection from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, where he was selected ahead of current stars like Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Noah Hanifin who was picked by the Carolina Hurricanes, Ivan Provorov of the Philadelphia Flyers, Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and even Mikko Rantanen of the Colorado Avalanche!
Perlini is a third liner at best, not much else to say on him. He's nothing more than a guy who you can rely on for 30 points in a season, and has yet to crack the 20 goal plateau either.
Shmaltz could be a second line center for the 'Yotes. Has shown offensive skills worthy of a top six forward and was a good fit for the Hawks. Time will tell if he can become what the Coyotes are hoping for. At least he'll have some familiar faces in the desert with Nik Hjalmarsson and Vinny Hinistroza the other former Chicago players currently on Arizona's roster."
"The Blackhawks come out on the wrong end of a trade once again. Not only did they have a chance to cement and grow Nick Schmaltz as a top six center, they traded him for an absolute bust and a power forward winger!
Strome hasn't lived up to his billing of being a top 3 selection at the 2015 NHL Draft, and is a servicable player, but I really believe that he won't make as much of an impact for the Hawks as Schmaltz was starting to show. I think Strome will be nothing more than a third line center since his skating is his biggest drawback in a league that's all about speed.
Perlini, however, reminds me of a less skilled Max Pacioretty. While a good power forward, I think he's a consolation prize for the Hawks in getting fleeced by Arizona GM John Chyka once again. Perlini could surprise and start becoming a scoring winger for the Hawks, just don't expect him to be a consistent threat on the ice just yet. I see him being a good third line winger for now, with potential to slot into their top six in a few years.
This trade boils down to a youthful exchange for the two clubs and giving new opportunities to these players. I just think Stan Bowman comes out on the wrong end of this once again. At least he can't blame it on the coach this time around!"
"Dylan Strome is being reunited with Alex DeBrincat from their junior hockey league days in the Ontario Hockey League. Their other linemate from the OHL was McDavid, but I'm sure the Blackhawks were shit out of luck trying to reunite that lethal line! Goes to show how great McDavid really is.
The Blackhawks are likely going to give Strome a shot to be their third line center in Chicago and Arizona likely sees Schmaltz fitting in as their second line center. Looking like Arizona upgraded at center and rid themselves on a bad 3rd overall pick and Perlini too...
Who the fuck is Perlini, anyway?!"
